DNA would be the Future of Data Storage

With the exponential growth of technology and the increasing shift towards online platforms, the amount of data being generated is on the rise.

As a result, there is a pressing need for efficient and secure data storage solutions. In a remarkable development, researchers have turned to DNA, the building block of life, to explore its potential as an effective data storage mechanism.

While the idea of using DNA for data storage was first generated in the 1980s, it was not until 2012 that Harvard scientists actualized this hypothesis by storing a 52,000-word book in DNA. The scientists were able to store almost 1,280,000 GB of information per gram of DNA, demonstrating the tremendous potential of this method.
