Iceland shoots up in global digital rankings for public services and infrastructure.

Iceland ranks fifth out of 193 nations in the UN’s annual digital government evaluation, the eGovernment Development Index (EGDI).

This is an improvement compared to the country’s twelfth-place rating in 2020.

Iceland performed exceptionally well in terms of the human capital index and technical infrastructure.

This term, the Icelandic government has prioritised digitising services to have all relevant applications, payments, and receipts for services available online.

This report shows that the country has been making significant strides these past two years.

This means that digital services are simplifying people’s lives while also saving time and costs.
