#Spain and #Germany will test cross-border #digitalID

The governments of Spain and Germany have signed a cooperation agreement that provides for a cross-border pilot program in the field of digital ID.

This initiative is part of the plan proposed by the European Commission for a European #digitalidentity. It aims to give each #citizen a #digitalportfolio that identifies users and allows them to access both private and #publicdigitalservices across the Union with a click of the phone.

Carme Artigas, Spanish Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, highlighted that citizens “must have the power of their data and identity and, the collaboration with Germany is an essential step on the European path to data sovereignty.”
