Pentagon leadership to finalize policy for using digital apps securely

The Pentagon Officials are almost done with major policy refresh that will set clearer requirements regarding how its civilian and military personnel are permitted to engage with software applications on digital devices.

After the misuse of electronic apps on government devices, the Pentagon was one of three agencies to introduce an interim rule prohibiting the “presence or use” of the Chinese-linked social media app TikTok on any equipment that connects with U.S. government systems.

As per Pentagon spokesperson, “We are finalizing the updated DOD Application Security policy that addresses the management and use of applications on DOD Devices”.
