Digital governance in Thailand: a challenge or an opportunity?

Thailand was a pioneer in using the internet for government services, establishing an e-government system as early as 1997. Then, in 2018, a key shift occurred with the introduction of a Digital Government Development Agency.

The second step, however, will be more challenging since the government must transition from services to operations.

This includes using digital technology to improve judicial procedures and protect people’s data and privacy from cyberattacks.

Thailand will be able to effectively transition to digital governance if it takes the time now to ensure that it is on the right track.
