#Canada is preparing a public consultation on a framework for digital identity
In August, the Canadian government unveiled Digital Ambition 2022.
This vision was described as “a clear, long-term strategic goal for the Government to promote digital service delivery, cyber security, talent recruiting, and privacy.”
The new plan will replace the government’s “Digital Operations Strategic Plan” for 2021-2024.
One fundamental pillar of the ‘Ambition’ is digital identification, with a focus on the need for the government to provide quick, simple means to confirm ID claims.
A reminder Canada is one of the eight countries that formed a working group for digital ID in 2020.
The government has yet to provide details on when its public consultation on digital ID might run.
